Dorner Offer A Sweet Solution

The Dorner 3200 Series plastic chain belt conveyor is well known for its durability in tough applications, but its high speed is increasing customers' output everyday.

Dorner and a confectionery manufacturer recently teamed up using the 3200 Series conveyor and 5200 series conveyor with bend to create an incredibly sophisticated high-speed packaging system for a new line of boxed sweets.

The challenge was to prepare boxes of candy hearts for two robots that would package them for shipment. However, the speeds were extreme — up to 500 boxes per minute — and the robots risked being overwhelmed. The Dorner solution was to stage the boxes for the robots in an accumulation and then meter them out using the 3200 and 5200 Series conveyors.

Since the equipment has been delivered and operating, the customer managed to see a boost in production of 20 percent. In addition to packaging and accumulation, these conveyors are engineered to work in a variety of other sanitary and non-sanitary applications.

The low-profile design comes in modular plastic belt, flat-belt end-drive, and cleated-belt end-drive or centre-drive models provide the flexibility you need to seamlessly integrate the conveyor system into their equipment.
